Here at the DUI Foundation, we’re excited to partner with Carrie Armstrong, with the How To Be A Sober Girl blog. You can check out her blog here. Over the next thirty days, she has committed to a How To Be A Sober Girl 30 Day Kickstart campaign and we’ll be sharing her stories right here.

And without any more time, here’s Day Ten:

When we stop or cut down on drinking, the next logical step seems to be that we should ovehaul our diet.

Big Mistake.

We all make this mistake though. All non drinking forums have a section dedicated to healthy eating. When in actual fact it’s the thing we should avoid most. Any restriction in diet will lead us straight back to alcohol abuse. We will pick up drinking exactly where we left off. It becomes too much. The walls close in. Restriction seems unbearable and the only way to escape the stress we have created through the misery of denial is to seek oblivion. Again. Right back at Square One.

So. Just to recap. stopping cutting out the sugar. Stop cutting out the coffee. Stop cutting out carbs. Just stop it.

Go eat a proper meal three times a day. Snack all you want. Drink whatever the hell you like that isn’t alcohol. Every time you do his you are shoring up your sobriety. So well done you. That cheeseburger is keeping you right on track.
