Here at the DUI Foundation, we’re excited to partner with Carrie Armstrong, with the How To Be A Sober Girl blog. You can check out her blog here. Over the next thirty days, she has committed to a How To Be A Sober Girl 30 Day Kickstart campaign and we’ll be sharing her stories right here.

And without any more time, here’s Day Twenty Six:

Please get out the list you made last night.

  • Start with the list of things that are easy and enjoyable and make you feel comfortable. Pick one of them. Close your eyes and see yourself doing this activity or in this environment. Do it for a couple of minutes so you can really feel it.

Then after a couple of minutes doing that, go to the heading of difficult and stressful.

  • Pick one scenario from this list. Again close your eyes and see yourself in that situation. Then go back put on a really short meditation video from youtube. As the music plays breathe deeply and visualise yourself doing the stressful thing. Do it for as long as you can. if you get distracted just keep the music going and start the visualisation from the beginning.

Then go to the bored and indifferent list

  • Pick one scenario from the bored and indifferent list. visualise yourself doing it. Then stop. go get your headphones, put them on and choose your favourite piece of music you are listening to right now. then visulaise yourself doing the activity you are bored of doing.

If you are inclined to choose another one off of each list? Great! if not then leave it for another day…but the more practise you get? The more that list will shift before your eyes and the faster your brain will shift gears to start working with you, rather than against you,
