As winter leaves and spring begins, it’s time for sunshine, BBQs, picnics, fairs, festivals, and much more outdoor fun. Of course, beer and other alcoholic beverages often play a role in such social events, and it is important to remember that too much alcohol can turn those fun times into dangerous situations that put your life and the lives of innocent people at risk, and can also lead to legal problems.

It may seem like an innocent event: you had a couple of drinks, enjoyed some time with friends and family, and now it is time to call it a night. So, you hop into your car and head home for some rest and relaxation. Unfortunately, you misjudged your intoxication level, or at least how it appears to others. Even then, everything is fine until you see flashing lights indicating that you have been busted. Unfortunately, this happens every day. Even if there is no accident, and you escape the lifelong troubles brought on by injuries and/or fatalities, those flashing red, white, and blue lights still mean that you are likely to face the consequences of your seemingly innocent accident. All it takes for a DWI prosecution is the slightest confirmation of a law enforcement officer’s suspicion that you are, indeed, driving while intoxicated.

Don’t let a single night of fun lead to legal trouble. Practice caution. If you plan to drink, make plans to stay the night (if at someone’s home), use a sober designated driver, or call a taxi. A night of fun isn’t worth it if the end result is an accident, injuries, death, or DWI charges.

As spring and summer roll in, make a conscious effort to look out for yourself and for others, especially when alcohol is involved. The attorneys at Nave DWI Defense Attorneys wish each of you a happy and safe 2013 spring season.
